How Did I (Rev. Denise Kay) Come To Do Over 450 Weddings?

It is because of my life experiences of trials and tribulations that I am so passionate about life.
I am a child of the 50's, I grew up in the mid 50's, 60 and was 18 in 1972 (the Hippy generation).
I grew up in the time of Civil Rights, no cell phones, desktop computers, rotary phones and 13 free
TV stations. I also grew up under women who knew how to cook, sew and throw a party
(my grandmother and mother). I witnessed, helped coordinate many a party planning.

I was going along happily, was married to my high school sweetheart at age 20, had my only
daughter at 25, had a career in Real Estate, life was good. Then a series of Doctor appointments
spanning a year resulted in my world shattering, I, at the age of 36 was diagnosed with
Stage 4 Breast Cancer (my husband was right in the middle of his soaring career, my daughter
had just been diagnosed with an agressive form of Scolieois). I had two choices:
1. Feel sorry for myself, curl up and just die or
2. Take everything and everyone the good Lord put in my life up to that moment and fight
with everything I had been given and live.

Well, since I am still here, I guess the second choice was the right one.

So How Did I Get To This Point?

It was a tough road, the battle with the Cancer and it's treatment
still has it's effects on me today, but the battle I fought taught me to sieze everyday, not only
 sieze it but to live each day fully. What better way to do that than a Wedding. Falling in Love with my high
school sweetheart was one of the best time of my life, I was young and in love with
my prince charming, what little girl doesn't want that.

So I took all that passion for Weddings and have spent over 17 years Falling in Love
again with each Wedding I plan.
